Indian fine dining establishment Rang Mahal sets up bistro-style Table

Known for its fine Indian cuisine, Rang Mahal has opened a casual dining establishment in the lobby of Naumi Hotel.

The airy open-dining concept gives Table a convivial vibe. The restaurant has an executive set lunch ($18++), which includes vegetarian options.

I was lucky to be able to try a bit of each.

Indian Favourites

I loved the Chilli Cheese Kulzza – a type of Indian pizza with cheddar, chillies and fresh coriander – as well as the Punjabi Samosa. The latter is definitely the king of all samosas due to its sheer size, buttery pastry and potato stuffing within.

The Bombay Pani Puri is a good opening dish with mini crunchy semolina puffs that come with chilled spice water and sweet tamarind chutney.

The main courses did not disappoint either, with dishes such as Tandoori Mushroom and Tandoori Paneer Tikka. These vegetarian options were equally, if not more, tasty than the meat options.

The former featured fresh mushrooms in herbed yoghurt and the latter comprised cubes of Indian cottage cheese enveloped in tangy yoghurt masala.

Meat Delights and More

Not too worry; there is not only vegetarian food on offer at Table.

The MalMali Seekh Kebab would satisfy the meat-lover. The dish of tender minced lamb with colourful bell peppers, mint and spring onion tasted slightly gamey in my opinion but, nonetheless, it was still easy to devour.

The Butter Chicken was cooked to perfection with tender chicken morsels placed in a tandoor, thereafter simmered in tomato gravy. The dishes from the main course come accompanied with Cucumber Raita and freshly-baked Naan.

The desserts also come with a dose of panache. Table’s Pop is a sugar-free popsicle made with fresh raspberries and coconut infused with chia seeds, while Saffron Rasmalai is a fresh cheese dumpling in reduced saffron and cardamom-flavoured milk.

With so much rich food, you can end your meal with a nice cup of masala chai (spice tea).
