#HawkerTreasures Savouring The Taste Of Tradition At Tiong Bahru Food Centre

So.. what’s next for lunch?

Having grown up right next to Tiong Bahru market and food centre— it was a delightful trip down memory lane when the Weekender team decided to come here for lunch. Whoever who said food evokes memory was certainly right; the taste of sweet charsiew roasted pork rice and Tiong Bahru da-bao is like a blast from the past, as I remember growing up in my great-grandmother’s household, and these dishes being the weekly centrepieces for our Sunday family brunches.

Come with us, as we take you for a taste of tradition while we scour Tiong Bahru Food Centre for some of the best nostalgic eats.

1. Tiong Bahru Hainanese Roasted Chicken Rice, $3

One of the best Hainanese Chicken Rice around town. The rice isn’t too greasy and the chicken breast meat wasn’t overly dry. For $3, we’d say that the portion is decent too, and great as a standalone if you’re thinking of getting more dishes to share within your lunch group.
