Light bites or a filling meal – M Social Singapore’s dining concept Beast & Butterflies considerately categorised its menu based on this direction, where ‘Beast’ offers heartier dishes that throw punchy flavours, while dishes under ‘Butterflies’ are ‘lighter’ with fresh ingredients taking centrestage. Refusing to colour inside the lines when it comes to cooking, the restaurant offers well-loved Asian dishes that are given unique twists. Some worthy delights are the heartwarming Teochew-style Lobster Porridge ($38) that boasts a seriously potent crab broth, before topped with tender lobster meat, and the German-style Crispy Pork Knuckle ($26/$36), where the accompanying homemade sauces of the spicy Thai Nam Jim sauce and the sweet and thick Peking hoisin sauce outshines the meat. For sweets, settle for the Yam Brulée ($12) which is basically traditional orh nee with a crackling sugar crust.
