What the duck! Demon Chef Alvin Leung has finally brought his Cantonese restaurant Forbidden Duck to our sunny shores! While it makes sense to zero in on the famed namesake dish, we found ourselves savouring the new offering of the signature slow-roasted duck ($88) that can be eaten in three ways. One of which is Chef Leung’s reimagination of his favourite local delight laksa, where he served diced slow-roasted duck meat with suspects of tau pok and bacon strips, seasoned with laksa powder and leaves, on a spread of crunchy lettuce. Present during the tasting session, he wistfully thought out loud of adding hum into the mix – a suggestion we speedily affirmed with great enthusiasm. Another dish that’s worth the calories is the Giant Egg Tart ($6) that when is cut through,  a stream of yuzu glaze, dotted with yuzu peel, flows out from its centre. The glaze provides a welcome tanginess to the sweet, eggy custard, which we lapped both, coupled with the crunch of its pastry, up like liquid gold. Click here for our full review.
