Our philosophy when it comes to steamboat? More is more.

But here’s a caveat — it’s got to be brimming with fresh, quality ingredients.

Riding on the recent wave of multi-tiered steamboats is K-Tower, which offers three-, five-, seven- and nine-tier seafood towers (prices from $58).

Customising your own tower with fresh-from-the-tank seafood.

Customisable tiers

What sets them apart from the rest is the option of customising your own tower with fresh-from-the-tank seafood like Boston lobsters, Sri Lankan crabs, Australian abalones, white clams, black mussels, prawns, Canadian oysters and sea cucumbers.

Steamed to order, these seafood items were fresh-tasting and naturally sweet.

In particular, the fleshy Boston lobsters and Sri Lankan crabs had us going for seconds. Accompanying the seafood tower are a selection of house-made sauces, including the spicy sambal, to add a kick to your meal.

By the time you reach the last tier, all the crustacean-flavoured goodness would have trickled down to a steaming hot pot of soup at the bottom, making the broth exceptionally robust.

Soup base flavours include seafood, kimchi, Korean ginseng and budae jjigae (army stew).

The crunchy K-Tower Fried Chicken, on the other hand, is a must-order for fans of fried chicken.

Tasty sides

With the kitchen led by Chef Sky, who possesses over 10 years of experience with Korean cuisine, it’s no surprise to see that the other menu items are well-executed as well.

We liked the nourishing Korean Ginseng Chicken ($17.90), though we thought the flavours could have been a tad more intense.

The crunchy K-Tower Fried Chicken ($7.90), on the other hand, is a must-order for fans of fried chicken.

For sweet endings, treat yourself to the mochi-like Trilogy Rice Cake with Honey ($5.90), which comes in cheese, pumpkin and sweet potato flavours.

Overall, K-Tower makes for a fun dining experience especially if you’re looking for a group dining option.

After all, no man is an island when faced with a nine-tiered feast!
