Every weekend, Italian families will gather for a banquet typically prepared by the women of the household. They dice, marinade, fry and bake from the early hours of the morning to ensure that the whole table is full of delights in time for brunch.
As a child, Head Chef Marco Guccio used to hide in the kitchen and watch as his mum and aunts prepared Saturday brunch as he was constantly bullied by his elder siblings. Enthralled by the magic of the kitchen, he’s always considered weekend brunch as a sacred experience.
It is this experience and food that he wants to share with the people of Singapore at Zafferano.
Enjoy true Italian hospitality during the Saturday brunch. The chef will be happy to prepare as many portions of each dish as you’d like.
From Antipasti to Dolci
Every traditional Italian meal is broken down into four components — the Antipasti appetisers, the carbohydrate-loaded Pastas and Pizzas, the meaty Pesce and Carne dishes, followed by some sweet Dolci desserts to round everything up.
Start your meal with two sweet and briny oysters from Coffin Bay followed by all you can eat Burrata cheese with Italian tomatoes and cold cuts like 24 month ‘Pio Tosini’ ham, pistachio ‘mortadella’, Iberico salami. The chef also freshly fries portions of calamari, prawns and anchovies so that everything reaches your table piping hot and crispy.
The same is done for the pastas and pizzas. Everything is made ala minute and you’ll be able to order a second portion if you crave more Frutti Di Mare Gnocchi or Truffle Porcini Ravioli. Pizzas that have just come out of the oven will also make their way around the restaurant, simply wave a waiter over once you want a slice.
For the main course, there’s still Oven-baked Sea Bass for a taste of Southern Italy and Roasted Chicken Legs served ith rosemary potatoes. By this point you’ll be absolutely stuffed but somehow, there’s always still room for dessert, especially when dessert is an assortment of tiramisu, macarons, panna cotta, and caramelized banana cake.
A glass of champagne completes any luxury brunc experience.
