A newly-revamped Italian brunch buffet is a hearty and mouth-watering option at Prego

Prego has been in the Singapore food scene for the past two decades, serving up hearty Italian cuisine. They have now revamped their Sunday brunch buffet with 40 traditional Italian dishes in Pranzo Italiano [Italian Lunch].

Chef de cuisine Antonio Facchinetti injects the Italian sensibility of la dolce vita [the sweet life] into his well-thought out dishes.

An Extensive Range

Apart from an extensive cold cuts and anti-pasti section as well as a pristine seafood counter, you get to choose from the 40 main dishes on the menu and the staff bring it to you all prepared.

Do try the cold prawns. The sweet prawns were firm and oh-so-fresh; we polished off several plates of this. We also liked the sashimi and oyster counter as well.

The cold cuts include Mortadella ham and prosciutto di Parma that come alongside canellonis. The cheeses aren’t labelled so it is best you ask for help just in case you end up with one that’s way too strong for your taste.

Rich Pastas

We loved Chef Antonio’s Strozzapreti with Spiced Sausage in Tomato Sauce. The homemade pasta seemed almost udon-like in the tomato sauce and was well complemented with the spiced sausage.

The Gnocchi Prawns, Pesto Cream Sauce was a slight disappointment with the potato dumplings being a little too soft and mushy.

Also try the Risotto with Smoked Pancetta and Saffron. The richness of the risotto was paired well with the smoked pancetta.

Decadent Options

Foie gras fans, rejoice! The pan-seared foie gras is also available for order. You get two good-sized pieces of foie gras accompanied with figs and fig sauce.

The dessert counter was a bit of a let-down but surprisingly the dark chocolate macarons were decadent and a sweet end to the meal. The tiramisu was not half-bad either.

The Pranzo Italiano at Prego costs $68++ for an adult and $34++ for a child, and starts from 12.30pm to 3.00pm every Sunday at the Fairmont Singapore. Tel: 6431 6156
