After an intense final round of pouring and mixing, Peter Chua from 28HKS has been chosen to represent Singapore at the Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition in Sydney Australia.

In May, Peter will compete with 35 other finalists from all around the world for his cocktail creation to be the next “legacy cocktail”.

Held at the Long Bar Raffles Hotel, the Singapore nationals saw the top five cocktail craftsmen presenting their creation before industry experts.

The judges assessed the cocktails for aroma, balance of flavours, character appeal, inspiration, story behind the creation of the cocktail and presentation as well as the outcome of the finalists’ marketing efforts over the last three months to prove the “legacy” quality of their cocktail, before making the final decision.

SINGAPORE SCENE AMONG THE BEST

David Cordoba, leading global bartender, former Bacardi Global Brand Ambassador and one of the judges, enthuses, “It is incredible to see an amazing talent from Singapore. In the last few years the development and professionalism of the young talented bartenders have been absolutely incredible.”

He added, “I can see that Singapore is at the moment, in the running to become one of the best cocktail scenes in the world.”

“Extremely thrilled that my Sugar Man has won praise!” Peter exclaimed. “I hope to do Singapore proud and to put Singapore on the map,” he said.

BATTLE OF THE BEST

The competition started in November last year, with over 40 bartenders in Singapore submitting their recipes. The winner of the global competition will have his cocktail recorded in the company’s archives and have his cocktail served at some of the finest bars around the world, alongside other classics.

The global winner will also receive one-year support from Bacardi to further his bartending career.
