The annual Thai food festival returns with the focus on Thai home recipes

The fact that Thai cuisine abounds in Singapore has rendered a trip to the Land of Smiles for authentic Thai food rather unnecessary. This point is proven now more so with the return of the annual Thai food festival Chang Sensory Trails, held from 31 August to 1 September, 4pm to 10pm, at The Lawn at Marina Bay.
Launched by Thai beer brand Chang, the third installment of the gastronomic extravaganza revolves around Thai home cooking, where 24 signature dishes from eight local Thai restaurants are placed in the spotlights. These delights are inspired from home recipes their Thai chefs grew up with.
Participating outlets of the Chang Sensory Trails include Aroy Dee, Baan Ying, Bangkok Jam, Gin Khao, Little Elephant, Long Chim, Tamarind Hill and Un-Yang-Kor-Dai.

While they may draw from home recipes, the range of dishes extends beyond the expected classics. Aside from crowd-pleasing likes of stir-fried beef with basil and mango sticky rice, the festival is also set to offer up unique Thai creations such as Gin Khao's watermelon fried rice and Long Chim's spicy pork with rice cake, alongside intriguing mashups of Unyang Korda's Thai bacon and Thai milk pudding, and Thai Style Fish & Chips from Bangkok Jam. Other culinary highlights that have already gotten us salivating are Thai style prime ribs from Aroy-Dee and Baan Ying's dry Tom Yum Goong noodles with lava egg.
To complement the Thai feast, the artworks of Singaporean illustrator GalactikCaptainfrom local collective Band of Doodlers will adorn the tabletops and facades of the food booths. A Chang Sensory Trails photo wall will also be present to entertain guests. What's more - local bands of O.K Ready! and 53A will set the mood with their musical performances.
