3. Kim Hwa Guan

Owned and run by a family, this stall at the People’s Park Food Centre has been around since the 1960s, amassing a loyal following over the years. Made fresh on the spot, the bak kwa does require a bit of a queue, but you can watch the staff grill huge stacks of the pork piece by piece over the charcoal, and when you’re finally rewarded with deliciously smoky bak kwa, it will be all worth the wait. The Kim Hwa Guan sliced square pork is available at $58 per kg, but prices do increase during the Chinese New Year period.
