Arguably one of Tiong Bahru's best haunts, Open Door Policy has made a name for itself thanks to its rustic charm and simple, comfort food.

Now, there's even more reason to pay a visit. Its recent concept refresh presents a gluten-free and dairy-free menu, thanks to Spa Esprit Group’s push for green initiatives.

Lest you think 'gluten-free' and 'dairy-free' are merely buzzwords thrown around in a bid to sound healthier, rest assured that the bistro takes them pretty seriously.

First of all, the menu taps into the chefs' knowledge of alternative food sources, substitute ingredients and pickling know-how, resulting in a light and nutritious menu that's suitable for even those with food allergies.

Secondly, the walls feature indoor vertical farming panels where leafy greens are grown in-house for the new dishes.

6. Dates & Walnut Cheesecake ($16)

What looks like the average cheesecake, crumbles quickly once you stick a fork into it. The Dates & Walnut Cheesecake was creamy and moist, but lacked the distinct richness of a cheese cake. That said, it is a pretty yummy choice if you’d like a light dessert.
