If you’ve made the mistake of holding a festive soiree at your abode without possessing the skill of boiling water, fret not as we have compiled five places that offer delicious festive takeaways for non-forward thinkers like you.

Our heartstrings were already tugged by Chef Damian D’Silva’s home cooking of Sambal Buah Keluak Fried Rice ($22), 4 Angled Bean Salad ($12) and melt-in-the-mouth Kueh Kasui ($6) when we popped by Folklore a couple of months back. This Christmas, the gentle giant of a chef will send you down memory lane as he conjures up his fondest childhood food memories to procure several Eurasian festive dishes for dine-in and takeaway.
The nostalgic range includes Oxtail Semur($28)*, an alluringly dark stew that packs spices and with tender meat melting off the tail bones, Debal ($32)* featuring an amalgamation of the pork meats swimming in a spicy stew, that still doesn’t match up to the heat of the Sambal Kapitan ($28)*, which has Kampung chicken cooked in a potent blend of aromatic spices and the star ingredient, belachan, for that fiery kick.
If you’re looking for festive heritage sweets to takeaway, look to the humble but buttery Sugee Cake ($54)*. But if you decide to dine-in at Folklore on 24 and 25 December, you’d best be ordering Chef’s Eurasian Christmas Pie ($30, not for takeaway) comprising a medley of meats and veggies before covered by puff pastry.
