5 Culinary Highlights At The Upcoming Singapore Food Festival 2018 Including A Durian Surprise From McDonald’s

Go on hawker trails, participate in kueh-making workshops and feast on chef collaborative meals

Sticking to the same theme of 'Savour Singapore in Every Bite', Singapore Food Festival makes a delicious return for its 25th edition from 13 to 29 July.

With the spotlight shining on local cuisine and the illustrious heritage that comes with it, the gastronomic fiesta will see to returning favourites such as personality Moses Lim-led hawker tours and the 50 Cents Festival, alongside other new and exciting culinary ventures including an eight hands dinner by the likes of Folklore's Chef Damian D'Silva  and Labyrinth's Han Li Guang (just to name two),  and  boozy beer yoga sessions.

Here are some of the highlights to look out for when Singapore Food Festival comes around:

2. Culinary activities to take part in

Aside from filling empty bellies, Singapore Food Festival offers a list of engaging activities for the more curious foodies to participate in, maybe with a goreng piseng in hand.

Rainbow Lapis will once more offer its popular kueh-making workshops; and unlike last year’s twist where kuehs were paired with speciality cocktails, the workshops will bring attendees to local manufacturers responsible for producing some of the key ingredients used in these heritage kuehs. They’ll learn how to make Pulut Tai Tai, Getok Lapis and Rempah Udang. Book a slot here.

For yogis with an affinity for beer, they’ll be glad to know that District 1 Yoga has married the recreational activities of yoga stretching and beer guzzling into one with its Beer Yoga and City Lights. Make jolly with the brews from Trouble Brewing, the beer yoga sessions ($29 per pax) will take place over three separate dates. Book a slot here.

But if you rather go it alone, pick up a Hawker Spotlight booklet at the Citygas Gallery and Singapore Visitor Centres for a self-guided tour of Amoy Street Food Market. The booklet comes with special deals and discounts coupons just for that hawker centre. A voracious appetite for hawker fare is a pre-requisite!
