5 ways to steal David Beckham’s style

The soccer star turn style icon takes his pick of H&M’s Spring collection

Former soccer icon turn style leader to men all around the world, David Beckham is showing no signs of slowing down. Most recently, he shot the latest H&M campaign for the launch of the Spring 2016 Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham collection.

In the commercial shot on the scenic streets of Lisbon, the charming man himself goes about his daily life only to find everyone dressed exactly like him — cue sartorial humour.

While we’re not telling you to morph into Beckham clones (we wish), here are some looks worth stealing.

1. Linen blazer over striped t-shirt

Linen jackets are breezy enough for our tropical weather, while donning a striped t-shirt is a classic way to break up the monotony of a matching coordinate.

2. Parka over knit

Look sharp without compromising the comfort factor by pairing a textured sweatshirt underneath a parka.

3. Double denim

Here’s how to pull off a double denim look: Match different shades of denim. The rule of thumb is that darker washes create a slimming effect whereas lighter shades draw attention to the body part they cover.

4. Polo t-shirt with collar accent

For a breathable yet athletic option, opt for a polo t-shirt. To add some interest to your style, pick one with an accent on the collar and take it up a notch by matching the accent shade with your pants.

5. Matching suit in neutral hues

All men need a black or navy suit in their wardrobe for key occasions in life. But if you’re up for it, a tan or khaki suit is the perfect way to spice up your style — they’ll allow you to match pastel shirts with better effect.

The new Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham collection will be available in two drops – 25 February and 17 March – in all H&M stores in Singapore.
