Godzilla 2014: No monster but a god

#81_ent_MAIN-GZ-FP-006rv2
Is the gargantuan beast benevolent or evil?

“Because what’s really happening is that you’re hiding something out there. And it is going to send us back to the Stone Age. God help us all…”

The international and Asia trailers depict a desolate city that’s cowering from the destruction of a monster.

Not one, but two kinds of Kaiju duel against each other in the aftermath of a forsaken human world.

Battling Beasts

Godzilla rises from beneath in the hope of restoring balance to an otherwise helpless human race. Its foe is a creature resembling a pterodactyl, terrorising our world.

In these dark hours, the humans cannot help but wonder, “Can we kill it?” and as Ken Watanabe so aptly replies, “Something can.”

The Majesty of Godzilla

The creation of Godzilla, this time round, will almost definitely be in CGI, which is a potentially great improvement from 1998’s version of the eponymous creature.

The new and improved look and effects will better portray the majesty of this magnificent creature.

Recognised Names to Ground the Epic

Bryan Cranston plays Joe Brody, a man who refuses to believe the lies that try to cover up the existence of these god-like creatures. Most famously known for his award-winning performance in Television’s “Breaking Bad”, Cranston joins a remarkable group of actors who feature in this epic remake.

Another fan-favourite in this film is Ken Watanabe. His most memorable performances were in The Last Samurai and Inception.
The two veterans are joined by the likes of superb actors, Aaron Taylor Johnson (Kickass), David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck and The Bourne Legacy) and Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche (The English Patient and Cosmopolis).

There is no doubt that the remake of this classic will be a box office hit, but can Director Gareth Edward’s production hold its own against potential blockbusters such as The Amazing Spiderman 2 and the new X-Men movie?
