It’s still a while to go until April 2019, so let’s have some trivia to tide us over until the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones airs on HBO. We don’t mean testing your knowledge to name the family crests or Direwolves; we’re talking about what happens on set and behind the camera. So many fascinating things have happened behind the scenes over seven seasons of the hit fantasy series. We’ve picked 10 little nuggets, and some might surprise even the huge Game of Thrones fans!

1. Peter Dinklage is the one and only Tyrion Lannister

George R.R. Martin, the brains behind it all, even had Dinklage in mind for the role before they put the series together. When the time came to cast Tyrion, Dinklage was the only actor that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss considered for the part. No auditions were needed.

Over seven seasons, Tyrion has been in more episodes – 61 out of 67 – than any other character, making him mathematically the show’s main character.
