3. Discover Upcycled Horticultural Art at Changi Airport
This June holiday season, Changi Airport is showcasing a series of imaginative and colorful garden displays crafted from repurposed and locally sourced materials. The displays are available for visitors until 30 June 2025.
These whimsical installations draw inspiration from classic children’s toys, storybooks, and garden play sets, featuring delightful motifs like an endearing teddy bear, a whimsical train, a charming ladybug, and a vibrant flowerpot. A standout piece is the vibrant patchwork ladybug at Terminal 4, skillfully constructed from layered panels and wrapped in colourful upcycled fabric, resting among stylised fabric foliage and blooming flowers. Beyond their visual charm, these displays carry a significant message about the beauty of recycling and the importance of environmental responsibility, demonstrating how textile waste, a major global polluter, and other discarded items can be given new life through creative design and craftsmanship.
Many of the live plants incorporated into the displays are nurtured at Changi Airport’s nursery, with several being reused from past events, such as the potted roses originally from the Valentine’s Day exhibit in February. This highlights Changi Airport’s sustained commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible reuse.
