To celebrate its 4th anniversary, visual arts cluster Gillman Barracks is opening its doors to the public with a free two-day carnival of art, food and good vibes.

It will be split into two events: the signature Art After Dark, held on 23 Sep from 7pm-11pm, and Art Day Out on 24 Sep, from 2pm-7pm.

Art After Dark will host a Porcelain Festival organised by local design platform and retailer Supermama, and will feature gifts and homeware inspired and influenced by the porcelain culture in Arita, Japan. Visitors can also look out for live mural painting Speak Cryptic; visual projections by Vandetta+Syndicate; and F&B pop-ups including My Little Tapas Bar, halal burger joint The Lab and Iskina Cebu x Bird Bird (lechon, folks!).

The Friday event will end in an after-party at Red Baron, where DJ collective and electronic music label Darker than Wax will be dropping the beats late into the night.

On 24 Sep, the site will feature family-friendly art activities at Art Outreach and Playeum’s Children’s Centre for Creativity – where visitors can enjoy 20 per cent off ticket prices.

Visitors can also join the Friends of the Museums’ docent-led Art & History Tour and History & Heritage Tour, which will uncover exciting artworks with a dose of the Barracks’ history. The Art & History Tour will include a special peek into the studio of Zai Kuning, the artist representing Singapore at the 57th Venice Biennale. The tours are free, but registration is required here.

There will also be a Farmers Market featuring Jamaican music and a BBQ street party, as well as the Jeep-themed Edition of Timbre’s Saturday Social BBQ.

Gillman Barracks’ 4th anniversary celebrations will be held on 23-24 Sep. More information here.
