Kindori: Fried Chicken Reinvented The True Japanese Way

Fried Chicken Lovers, think you’ve seen it all?

New restaurant Kindori introduces a new style of Japanese fried chicken to the mix of familiar Western and Korean favourites, and it’s a finger-lickin’ winner!

While most of us are familiar with Karaage Chicken, this dining concept is set to reinvent the way we view Japanese fried chicken—At Kindori, they use only fresh kampong chicken as these local birds boast a richer, deeper flavour that shines through when deep-fried.

The juicy, oh-so-tender meat is thanks to a special marinade of Japanese yogurt, herbs and spices. And the skin? Crispy and the perfect shade of gold – just as the name Kindori (Japanese for ‘gold’) suggests.

Tucked away in a corner of CHIJMES in a cosy beer garden setting, Kindori is a great place for a social night out and post-work drinks, over no-frills fried chicken.
Bring an appetite and come with friends for our delectable Full Bird ($29.00), a feast of eight pieces of golden fried chicken. Or mix it up and order a Half Bird ($16.00), so you can try a wider variety of fried items!

The crunchy Chicken Soft Bone ($6.00) is excellent with the range of Japanese craft beers, as are the Chicken Wings ($9.00) that come piping hot in a basket. Not a fan of dealing with bones? The Boneless Chicken Kaarage ($6.00) are juicy nuggets that promise to satisfy you with every effortless bite.

Of course, Japanese golden fried chicken is only complete with a selection of unique sauces, and we’ve got you sorted on this front! Dip your crispy wings into a choice of Kare Curry, Wasabi Cream, Tangy Miso, Chilli Chilli, Basil Mayo and Umami Ume. You get a choice of three complimentary house-made sauces with any Japanese fried chicken order.

Or, indulge yourself and top up for the Instagram-perfect Magic Ikura Cream ($8.00). It’s a bowl of luscious, silky-smooth whipped cream crowned with a generous heap of pearly ikura. So good, we’re pretty sure you’ll even dip your fingers in it!

There’s also a Japanese Fishermen Basket ($16.00) on the menu, for the ones who need their seafood mix. Think breaded calamari, plump oysters and Japanese scallops, served with a Mentai Gold Mayo sauce. Fancy something that is, well, non-fried? Try the Chicken Broth Oden ($8.00), where simmered eggs, tofu and a juicy chicken ball sit in a golden chicken soup.
