If you have a penchant for truffles, head down to Truffle Gourmet

If the fragrance of truffle oil entices you, you might find a dream of a restaurant in Truffle Gourmet. The restaurant has recently revamped its a la carte menu with hearty Italian dishes.

Sister establishment of Michelin-starred Guido da Costigliole Restaurant, Truffle Gourmet is nestled along the row of bars and restaurants on Club Street.

Homemade Goodies

Truffle Gourmet’s breads, pastas, spreads – including butter – are all made in-house. I especially like the entrée dish of Plin Agnolotti ($29), homemade beef ravioli served with beef reduction sauce and sprinkled in black truffle oil. It is also tossed in black truffle cream. Mmm! Homemade pastas usually have the pitfalls of being way too soggy, but the raviolis were perfectly al dente and meaty.

The Taglioni Al Nero ($28), the squid ink tagliolini with sea urchin and flying fish roe also showed much control in the pasta with the same al dente texture but the dish was let down slightly by the oddly-bitter sea urchin. The bottarga – salted cured fish roe – might also be a little fishy to some.

Summer Specials

For the summer, Truffle Gourmet’s menu showcases seasonal goodies such as the Battuta Di Carne Wagyu ($24), an anti-pasti dish. This Wagyu beef tartare is served with white asparagus salad and black summer truffle. If you aren’t squeamish about raw meat, the tartare is fresh and the texture firm.

For the main course, I recommend the Tagliata Di Maiale Iberico Pluma ($45), grilled Iberian pork on a bed of sautéed potatoes, onions, peas, Marsala sauce and black truffle. The Iberian pork is tender and juicy. It filled the mouth with just the right amount of fat for the fragrance yet lean enough to stomach easily.

End off the meal with its signature homemade ice cream covered in Oreo powder, to simulate a whole black truffle. It also comes with macerated berries for a tart finish. But if you are a chocolate lover, try the Chocolate Mousse ($12) with passion fruit and mango coulis. Make this your next stop for a business lunch or romantic dinner.
