Rich, warm tones of brass, bronze and mahogany contributes to a timeless and luxurious feel.

Up your romance quotient by bringing a loved one to ilLido At The Cliff.

ilLido, which routinely tops the list of the best Italian restaurants in Singapore, has now found a new home at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa.

Combine the cuisine of F&B personality Chef Beppe De Vito with breath-taking views of the resort’s 33-metre pool or the gleaming waters of South China Sea, and what you get is a winning formula for sweet, sweet romance.

While waiting for my dining companion, I cozied up at a corner seat with an unobstructed view of the sea and took in my luxurious surroundings — rich, warm tones of brass, bronze and mahogany. This was coupled with a turquoise and white alfresco terrace that reflected the seaside dining destination.

As lunch commenced, it became clear that De Vito’s knack for an authentic Italian culinary experience has not diminished one bit.

ilLido - Grilled Octopus with Roman Artichokes

The Grilled Octopus with Roman Artichokes features beautifully charred artichokes.

For instance, the Grilled Octopus with Roman Artichokes ($28) features beautifully charred artichokes that were crisp on the edges, a wonderful marriage with the tender cuts of octopus.

Next, our palettes were teased with the Homemade Tagliolini with Scallops and Truffle ($35). Twirls of al dente tagliolini coated with truffle shavings were topped with plump, juicy and lightly seared scallops for an unforgettable dish.

Romance your date with a dinner overlooking the gleaming waters of South China Sea.

While promising, the Black Cod with Caramelised Celeriac and Lemon Capers ($38), failed to steal the show. It was a tad too salted for my liking, though saved by the sweetness of the caramelised celeriac.

Thankfully, the desserts were no afterthought. The Almond Pannacotta with Peaches and Pistachios ($18) tasted like a refreshing summer’s dream.

On the whole, ilLido At The Cliff exemplified Chef Beppe De Vito’s culinary brilliance. Coupled with an unbeatable ambience, it will make the perfect spot for a romantic night (or day) out.
