Relive ‘the kampung days’ with homestays in Malaysia

What’s it like to be living in a collective kampung? Well, it was an intricate part of Singapore’s past for the longest time, before it became a thing of our history. Thankfully, not all is lost with homestays situated all across our causeway.

Homestays in Malaysia are perhaps one of the best ways to get to know Malaysia. A Ministry of Tourism & Culture initiative, the unique programme offers visitors a rare opportunity to experience first-hand the authentic charms of rural life. Live with a local family and enjoy a fascinating spectrum of local culture and traditions in a traditional setting.

Each homestay offers a different experience. Savour local food and participate in a host of delightful activities throughout the day, form harvesting crops to playing traditional games. With things moving at a slower pace than in the city, relish the quiet calm of the rustic life. Visitors will immerse in the lifestyle of the locals and experience the full spectrum of village life.
